It’s time to start or renew your Tri-M Chapter!
The craziness of our new school year is really swinging into full gear (because we know once it starts it doesn’t slow or calm down). Remember that your Tri-M Chapter is due for renewal each year. The cost is $100 per chapter for the school year and can be paid several ways through Nafme.
Start or Renew your Chapter HERE!
If your school does not yet have a Tri-M Chapter, this is your year! Our students need leadership experiences and community building opportunities now more than ever. Your chapter can and should be as unique as your students and programs.

Last year, Ohio had 54 chapters. This year, let’s get Ohio to 100 chapters! Simply renewing your lapsed chapter will help get us closer to this goal. If you have a chapter, encourage your local colleagues to start one, too! Host a joint service event or meeting to share ideas and inspiration!
Are you ready to start your chapter? Tri-M is open to grades 6-12 nation-wide. You and your district’s music teachers should decide what levels are best to include in your chapter(s). We’re here to help!
If you need some inspiration, come see us on Friday, January 30 at 3:30 pm during the OMEA Professional Development Conference for ideas on how to tailor your chapter to your students’ needs. Also, I’d love to schedule a one-on-one meeting with you this fall to help get you started! Reach out to schedule a Zoom or Google Meet (30 minutes) and we’ll get your questions answered! Email me: thompson_a@ohlsd.org.
I look forward to hearing about your chapters!
Amy Thompson is in her 30th year as a music educator. She currently teaches choir, theory and piano at Oak Hills High School on the west side of Cincinnati. Please reach out to her with any questions you have about Tri-M. She’s happy to help in any way she can! thompson_a@ohlsd.org.
