It’s been another eventful year in General Music in Ohio! We definitely represented at the OMEA Professional Development Conference again this past Winter, with a huge number of sessions presented by experts from all over. It is so exciting to be able to have so many options for learning every year in such a wide range of topics. Start getting ready for the next Professional Development Conference in 2026, which I am confident will have even more opportunities for professional growth.
If you haven’t joined our Facebook group, “General Music Teachers of Ohio” yet, make sure you head on over and check it out. It’s a great forum for sharing news and ideas and keeping in touch with teachers far and wide. We have some great moderators, but we could always use more hands on deck if you’re looking for a way to contribute to the cause.
If you’re a member of your local Orff, Kodály, or Dalcroze chapter be on the lookout for me! I am going to be making an effort to attend at least one workshop at each of our chapters every year. In the Spring I was able to make it out to the Northwest Ohio Orff Chapter, where I enjoyed being a part of the Chapter Share. I can’t wait to meet more of you and find out what General Music looks like outside of the Greater Cleveland area!
