The Ohio Foundation for Music Education Board of Directors has been actively raising funds and providing funding for OMEA initiatives. Along with numerous projects including support of the All-State ensembles and scholarships for pre-service teachers, the OFME Board helped support an OMEA membership campaign initiated by the OMEA Board of Trustees. Reports from the Trustees show a successful campaign is underway.
The OFME Board is sad to announce that the longest serving member of the Board, Gene Warman lost his battle with cancer recently. Gene was well known to many Ohioans as an on-air talent in both radio and television in both the Cincinnati and Columbus markets. Gene also founded Warman Productions in Columbus where he, his son and daughter ran a successful business for more than 40 years. Gene was the talent behind numerous audio and video projects supporting OMEA and OFME. Gene’s commitment and dedication to music education and the Ohio Foundation for Music Education will be greatly missed!
The Ohio Foundation for Music Education has a new position, Director of Operations and Development. The OFME Board is very excited to have Kimberly Symonds join us. Kimberly lives in Wooster, Ohio, and has been working with Jay Wardeska on OMEA projects, and now joins the OFME Board to help expand operations. Kimberly comes to us with a varied background in business, non-profit, and the arts. She has a wealth of ideas on how the OFME can grow and improve, and we are excited to have her onboard. She met with many of you at the OMEA PDC in Columbus, and you will find her very active in the OFME other projects.
The OFME is looking for new Board of Directors members. We need representation from the Columbus area and south. If you know of a person who would be interested in serving on the OFME Board of Directors please reach out with a recommendation. Your help is greatly appreciated!
