At the Ohio Foundation for Music Education, our work comes down to one thing, making sure every student in Ohio has access to quality music education. That mission shows up in a lot of ways, from scholarships for students and pre-service teachers to statewide initiatives that put instruments in the hands of kids who need them most.
And right now, there is a lot going on. Several exciting programs are gaining momentum, and we want to share what we have been working on, and how you can be part of it.

Strike-A-Chord Golf Outing

The Strike-A-Chord Golf Outing is entering an exciting new chapter. A newly formed planning committee is bringing fresh perspective and renewed energy to this event, and we are looking forward to sharing what they have been building.
Join us on Monday, June 15 at Chapel Hill Golf Course in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Registration opens at 8:30 AM with a shotgun start at 9:30 AM. Individual and foursome registrations are open now at www.ofme-ohio.org.
There is a genuine sense of excitement surrounding this event. We have begun identifying sponsorship opportunities and laying the groundwork for a successful outing. Beyond being a great day of connection and community, this event plays an important role in supporting the mission of OFME, and it is encouraging to see both new and returning supporters stepping forward to be involved.

Music Matters Ohio

One of the most significant areas of work right now is Music Matters Ohio. As we move toward Collection Day on May 30, final preparations are underway, including the completion of the website and supporting materials.
This initiative represents a powerful collaboration between the Ohio Arts Council, the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, and the Ohio Music Education Association. For OFME, this partnership expands our reach and strengthens our ability to serve students across the state.
Music Matters Ohio is centered on a simple but critical need, placing instruments into the hands of students who otherwise would not have access. As momentum continues to build, we are optimistic about the impact this effort will have in communities throughout Ohio.

Summer Winds

Planning is underway for Summer Winds, and we are excited to share that the event will take place from 12:00 PM–8:00 PM at the Winery at Wolf Creek (2637 S Cleveland Massillon Rd, Barberton, OH).
This event will feature a variety of adult community bands and is shaping up to be a unique and engaging musical experience. While additional details are still being finalized, there is strong interest in this initiative, and it will be a meaningful and enjoyable opportunity for both performers and audiences alike.

Supporting the Work

All of these initiatives share a common purpose, creating access and opportunity for students through music education. There is a lot to be encouraged by, and with strong partnerships and renewed energy, OFME is well-positioned to keep growing that impact across Ohio.
That work is only possible because of those who understand firsthand what music education means to a student's life. If you are looking for a way to be part of it, we invite you to consider supporting OFME. Your contribution helps sustain scholarships for students and pre-service teachers, powers initiatives like Music Matters Ohio, and ensures that more students have the opportunity to participate in music.
