As we approach the end of the 2025 school year I am excited to share the final TRIAD of my tenure as Editor. It has been an honor to serve as Editor and serve on the Board of Trustees for OMEA. Thank you for your contributions and support as we shifted to a digital magazine format. Your contributions have made TRIAD a more interactive experience and I hope you continue to contribute even more of your knowledge, successes, and news as we move forward into a new school year next fall.
In this issue we are excited to feature articles on conducting, string intonation, scaffolding for brass musicians, and starting your own summer music camp! I hope the ideas shared here will inspire you in your own teaching. If you sent us photos of your musical, large group, or other events not associated with Music in our Schools Month - they are throughout the issue - thank you for sharing your program successes with us!
We had a number of teachers share their Music In Our Schools Month activities and you will find those alongside the MIOSM committee report. It’s amazing to see all the creative events that are happening throughout the state to celebrate Music in our schools. Look for committee updates from Advocacy, Mentorship, General Music, and a spotlight on the Miami University Chapter of OCMEA. District and Region leaders - we would love to feature outstanding members and programs in each of our Regions and Districts. Please consider writing an article to celebrate all the wonderful teachers and programs in your District/Region.

I would like to encourage all our members to get involved in OMEA. Whether it’s starting with helping out at a District event, running for a District or Region Office, or saying yes when you get called to be a part of a committee or chair an event, you will find satisfaction in moving OMEA forward as you get involved. I have met so many amazing people and made connections throughout the state in my time as a Trustee and a District Officer. My first “job” in OMEA was bringing coffee and bagels to our MS Honors festival and helping with seating auditions. As I got more involved, opportunities came up to expand my role and I have enjoyed being involved at the District and State level. Reach out to your District/Region leaders and ask how you can get involved - go to your local meetings and get to know the other OMEA members in your area. I guarantee you will get as much out of your experience as you give.
I would like to thank Jay Wardeska, Executive Director of OMEA for his constant support and assistance as we navigated through the change to a digital magazine and tried to get more people engaged with TRIAD. Thanks for your help getting the word out, and always being available for questions or concerns. Thanks also to Bill Wittman, Director of Business and Tradeshow Operations for coming along with me on this adventure and learning how to get the ads ready for digital publication and placing them within the magazine. It has been a pleasure working with you!
Thank you to all of the Trustees that I have had the pleasure of working with over the past two years. I am proud to have worked with you and am proud of the work we have done within OMEA. I know that TRIAD will continue to grow and I hope all members will think about what you can share in the coming years. I thank you all for electing me to this position and I hope you have enjoyed reading TRIAD over the past two years!
