Empowering Educators with Technology

TI:ME’s primary focus remains on equipping music educators with the tools and training necessary to integrate technology into their teaching. Every year, the organization facilitates over 6,000 hours of professional development, offering courses, workshops, and certification programs that help educators stay ahead of technological advancements. Through partnerships with state and national music education associations, TI:ME ensures that music teachers have access to cutting-edge resources tailored to real-world classroom applications.

Fostering Community and Collaboration

Beyond training, TI:ME plays a crucial role in building a strong community among music educators who utilize technology. The organization provides a space for teachers to connect, share best practices, and collaborate on new approaches to teaching music. Through national and regional conferences, TI:ME offers hands-on experiences, showcases the latest advancements in music tech, and facilitates networking opportunities among educators, industry professionals, and researchers.
One of TI:ME’s key initiatives is the Leadership Academy, which mentors educators looking to take a more active role in shaping the future of music technology in education. By fostering leadership and innovation, the program helps educators become advocates and pioneers in their schools and communities. This year’s leadership academy was highly successful, with 15 scholarship recipients taking part in an extensive three day training session in San Antonio.

Recognizing Excellence in Music Technology

TI:ME also celebrates outstanding educators who integrate technology into their teaching through its “Teacher of the Year” awards. These awards highlight the innovative methods teachers use to engage students through music technology, from digital composition and production to live electronic performance and interactive learning platforms. This year’s TI:ME TOTY is Robby Burns from Ellicott Mills Middle School, Maryland.
Additionally, the organization continues to expand its online resources, ensuring educators have access to an ever-growing library of materials, lesson plans, and expert advice. The recent redesign of the TI:ME website makes it easier than ever for educators to find relevant tools and professional development opportunities.

Looking to the Future

As TI:ME enters its fourth decade, it remains committed to driving the future of music education. The organization is actively exploring new ways to incorporate artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and mobile music-making apps into the classroom. By staying ahead of technological trends, TI:ME ensures that music educators are prepared to engage the next generation of students in creative and meaningful ways.
The 30th-anniversary celebration is not just a reflection on the past but a launching point for continued innovation. With a strong foundation and an ever-expanding network of educators and industry leaders, TI:ME is poised to lead the charge in transforming music education through technology for years to come.
