Welcome back for the 24-25 school year! The beginning of the year is always an exciting time of meeting new students and building up those procedures that see us through to summer. As we say goodbye to longer, hotter days, and hello to warm colors and sweater weather, this is a good time to connect/reconnect with your local Orff-Schulwerk, Kodály, or Dalcroze chapter. Attending a workshop near you can be a great way to brush up on some skills you’ve forgotten since levels, find new lesson plans, and network with teachers near you. And it’s never too early to start researching a summer levels course! There are great options in the area, or use it as an excuse to explore some different areas of the country.

Welcome to New Chairs
We are excited to welcome Julia Kandel as General Music Professional Development Chair and Nathaniel Rogers as General Music Chair.

Julia has transitioned into the General Music Professional Development Chair position for the ‘24-’25 year.

New Subcommittees
New Subcommittees
Lots of work is being done behind the scenes to continue to bolster General Music in OMEA. We have created a number of subcommittees to ensure our work is continued as seamlessly as possible, while finding new ways to support our teachers. Gracious volunteers from around the state are coming together to ensure we have access to online professional development content, summer professional development opportunities, and informational articles in Triad. We also have a number of volunteers working on more prosaic tasks, such as organizing sites for professional development and evaluating the many conference session proposals we get every year.
