Plan to arrive early on Thursday! This year’s PDC features expanded Thursday morning programming, with additional concerts and professional development sessions beginning earlier in the day. General Music World will once again offer its popular Jump Start sessions, and attendees will find even more opportunities to learn, hear outstanding performances, and connect with colleagues from the very beginning of the conference.

A Thursday morning highlight will be Opening Measures, presented from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This year’s session features Floyd Richmond, music educator, performer, composer, producer, and technology specialist, for a timely exploration of Artificial Intelligence in Music Education.
Thursday evening will bring the OMEA community together for two special events. Backstage Pass Live, a reception for active and retired OMEA members, will take place in the Exhibit Hall from 5:30–7:00 p.m., featuring live music, refreshments, and an opportunity to connect with colleagues and exhibitors.
At 7:30 p.m., the excitement moves to the Convention Center Ballroom for a special Opening Night featuring Deke Sharon, a pioneer of contemporary a cappella, and Vocalight. Sharon and Vocalight will also be featured in additional conference programming on Friday.
Throughout the conference, attendees can look forward to outstanding concerts, clinics, professional development sessions, All-State ensembles, Cameo Concerts, the Research Forum, General Music World, and our exceptional Trade Show. And, of course, conference favorites including the Stanton’s Reading Band, OMEA Jam Session, and folk dance will return.
