Case Western Reserve University Spring Update
CWRU Music Education faculty Dr. Jessica Gallagher-Steuver and Dr. Elizabeth Hankins, as well as CWRU Music Education graduate students Dennis Giotta, Erin Meissner, and Danny Mylott presented concerts, sessions, posters, and research roundtables at the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference in Columbus.
The CWRU Music Education area hosted Dr. Eugenia Costa-Giomi, Professor of Music Education at the Ohio State University, for a residency in February. Dr. Costa-Giomi led undergraduate and graduate seminars on her research. She presented “Desde el Principio: Growing up Musical” for the Music Department Colloquium.
Recent faculty and student publications include Dr. Benjamin Helton and Joseph Fudale’s (CWRU MA ‘26) “Expanding Definitions of Musical ‘Quality’: A Framework for Selecting Purposeful Wind Band Repertoire” (Music Educators Journal) and Dr. Lisa Huisman Koops’s “Positive Personal Impact of Structural University Support on Faculty Motherhood” in the edited volume Motherhood in the Music Academy (Oxford University Press).
