Adjudicated Events Updates and Information for the 2025-26 School Year

Greetings from the Adjudicated Events Committee! We hope your school year is off to a great start, and we are excited to facilitate another year of educationally rewarding adjudicated events all across Ohio.

Some updates for the 2026 AE Season:

  • We are very excited about a new pilot program to add a mini clinic option for Junior High Solo and Ensemble participants. This spring at the D15 Logan Elm JH S&E site, performance slots will be expanded to 10 minutes, and directors can opt-in to have their students receive a short, mini-clinic from the adjudicator right after the performance. This is something that many members have asked for, and is common at in house, non-sanctioned, S&E events. We hope to gain post-event feedback from both participating directors and adjudicators and possibly offer this option at more JH S&E sites in other Districts in 2027.
  • Thanks to the hard work of our music selection committees the required lists for Orchestra, Choir, and Band are complete and were released at the end of summer. A new feature on the website now makes these lists searchable, a handy tool as our lists have grown substantially. On the OMEA website top menu, click: EVENTS > Adjudicated Events > Require Lists.
  • After its very successful first use for all Large Group events in 2025, the Competition Suite platform will continue to be utilized for adjudicator commentary capture and delivery going forward.

Reminders:

  • Registrations are now be due on the Wednesday four and a half weeks prior to the event by 5:00 PM! If a registration deadline falls on a holiday, the deadline will be moved to 5:00 pm on the next business day. Please be sure to confirm all of your district’s/region’s events on the official OMEA Calendar.
  • The deadline for Out of District requests for HS Choir/Band LG and Out of Region requests for HS Orchestra is January 1st.
  • The deadline for Out of District requests for JH Orchestra/Choir/Band LG is March 1st, unless your District combines JH Large Group with the HS LG event.
  • The deadline for Out of Region requests for state Choir/Band LG is March 16th.
