2026 OMEA Professional Development Conference

With conference excitement continuing to build, the 2026 OMEA Professional Development Conference will take place January 29–31 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and Columbus Hyatt Regency. Registration continues to increase, and hotel availability is becoming more limited, so attendees are encouraged to register and confirm lodging soon.

Columbus offers several convenient lodging options. Both the Hyatt and Hilton are directly connected to the Convention Center, while the Drury Inn can be accessed through the Convention Center food court.

Opening Measures: Thursday Morning Feature

Conference activities begin Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with Opening Measures, featuring Barry Hartz presenting Reimagining What’s Possible in Beginning Band. This session is designed to inspire fresh ideas and set the tone for the conference.

The Greater Columbus Convention Center will serve as the hub for General Music World, featuring Thursday morning Jump Start sessions and the evening folk dance. The Convention Center will also host the All-State Band and Orchestra, a special appearance by The Dallas Brass, the Trade Show, and a wealth of performances, including the return of the popular Cameo Concerts.

The Hyatt will be home to the All-State Children’s Chorus, Choir, and Jazz Ensemble, the Research Forum, and numerous sessions and performances. Evening highlights include the OMEA-Stanton’s Reading Band and the OMEA Jam Session at Big Bar on 2.
